While visiting his parents in the summer of 2002 Sims envisioned a homecoming. He and older brother Ryan decided that it was time to return to their hometown and play their part in the rejuvenation and rebirth of the area. Now after managing one of New York City’s most exclusive nightclubs and opening Peez Leweez—the brothers cozy, bustling café on Main Street in Livingston Manor—Sims has built a landmark destination restaurant.
Sims received a B.A. in Music Performance from Shepherd College in 1998. He then worked as a musician and taught music in Baltimore and Charleston, South Carolina, before moving to New York City in 2000. Shortly thereafter, he began working at Lotus, then a newly opened restaurant and nightclub in the fashionable Meatpacking District. He quickly rose up the management structure and became General Manager, overseeing the world renowned operation and a 120 member staff. Ultimately, however, the lure of returning home to open Resort and helping lead the town’s revitalization proved too great.
